Prof Jan Tytgat started his career in Physiology at the Medical School of KU Leuven. Later, he stayed at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA) for a post-doctoral training. Now, he holds the chair of the lab of Toxicology and Pharmacology at the pharmaceutical department of KU Leuven. He received several prices, among which the price of the Research Council and the international price Dr. E. Delcroix. Between 2004 and 2011, he has been elected President of The European Section of the international Society on Toxinology (IST). Besides that, he is also director of the division ‘Biopharmaceutial Sciences’ of Leuven Research & Development (LRD).
